Godwin Drive

(or What Would Have Been the VA 28 Bypass of Manassas)

 

The 1969 Northern Virginia Major Thoroughfare Plan proposed a complete Route 28 bypass of the City of Manassass. A piece of this bypass was built as Godwin Drive. Godwin Drive runs between Nokesville Road (VA 28) and Sudley Road (VA 234) west of the city of Manassas. The unbuilt portion runs northeast of Sudley Road to VA 28 and Compton Road in Centreville. The southern half of the unbuilt portion is a part of a study for the Tri-County Parkway. The map below details the original 1969 Plan.
